Fall and Winter are great times for hiking, wildlife-viewing, birding, getting back to nature, and just relaxing.
Late October and early November are excellent times to see autumn color in Cave Creek Canyon.
Though many winter days are mild and sunny, it does occasionally snow at Cave Creek Ranch:
Over 130 species of birds are regularly seen on the Portal, Arizona Christmas Bird Count. Painted Redstart, Blue-Throated Hummingbirds, Magnificent Hummingbirds, & Arizona Woodpeckers come to our feeders every day. Many mammals are often seen on our grounds; these include deer, javalinas, coatimundis, foxes, skunks, & bobcats.
