Cave Creek Canyon located just outside of Portal, Arizona is home to some of the most amazing views and hikes in the Southwest. If you’re an adventurous hiker looking to explore the dry desert and this mountainous region, this is the place for you.

Black Mountain Trail
This trail is considered a more difficult one only about 2.2 miles, but with a 1,194-elevation gain. One of the more popular hikes just outside of the Phoenix suburbs. For this longer hike, it’s important to bring water and snacks to stop along the way and rest. From creek beds to bird watching, this trail is definitely a rewarding one.
Overton Trail Loop
