Black Mountain Trail

This trail is considered a more difficult one only about 2.2 miles, but with a 1,194-elevation gain. One of the more popular hikes just outside of the Phoenix suburbs. Reaching the summit is fairly easy, which is why there is quite a bit of foot traffic on this one. Plus, it gives you a great vantage point for some spectacular views.

Elephant Mountain Loop

This trail is a 7-mile loop trail right near Cave Creek, Arizona. It has an elevation gain of 667 feet. This is also a very popular trail in this region. For this longer hike, it’s important to bring water and snacks to stop along the way and rest. From creek beds to bird watching, this trail is definitely a rewarding one.

Overton Trail Loop

This trail is 4.2 miles with an elevation gain of about 385 feet. The trailhead elevation is 2,060 feet. You can create a longer or shorter hike using the Go John Trail. This hike gives you access to abandoned mines. It is located close to North Phoenix and north Scottsdale.
